<strong><span style="color: #678936;">and silently betray yourself every single day.</span></strong></p>
<p class="my-2 &#091;&amp;+p&#093;:mt-4 &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:inline-block &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:align-top">We usually speak about <strong>fidelity</strong> as a promise made to someone else: a partner, a family, a cause. We link this word to not cheating, not leaving, not “breaking the contract”. Yet the place where fidelity plays out in the quietest way is not always there. Very often, it begins inside.</p>
<p class="my-2 &#091;&amp;+p&#093;:mt-4 &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:inline-block &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:align-top">From childhood, the world teaches us how to please. How to be nice, adaptable, efficient, reassuring. How to respond to what is expected of us in order to earn love, a place, recognition. But we are rarely taught <strong>fidelity to ourselves</strong>: the ability not to walk away from our own side, even when everything around us pushes us to reshape who we are.</p>
<p class="my-2 &#091;&amp;+p&#093;:mt-4 &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:inline-block &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:align-top">So maybe the real question is not only:<br />
<span style="color: #678936;"><strong>“Whom am I faithful to?”</strong></span><br />
but also:<br />
<span style="color: #678936;"><strong>“How faithful am I to what I feel, to what I know about myself, to what is true for me – even when it doesn’t please everyone?”</strong></span></p>

<strong><span style="color: #678936;">It forgets to teach you how to stay faithful to yourself.</span></strong></p>
<p class="my-2 &#091;&amp;+p&#093;:mt-4 &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:inline-block &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:align-top">Very early, we understand that certain behaviours attract approval: being calm, not making waves, getting good grades, not disturbing anyone. We adjust our gestures, our words, our emotions to stay inside that frame. <strong>We discover that pleasing is often more efficient than being fully ourselves.</strong></p>
<p class="my-2 &#091;&amp;+p&#093;:mt-4 &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:inline-block &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:align-top">As teenagers, the focus shifts. It’s no longer only about pleasing adults, but groups, models, images. We adopt ways of speaking, dressing, thinking, simply to avoid being rejected. <strong>Fidelity to oneself</strong> can cost a place in the group, so we compromise, smooth our edges, hide parts of us.</p>
<p class="my-2 &#091;&amp;+p&#093;:mt-4 &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:inline-block &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:align-top">As adults, these reflexes repeat: at work, in relationships, in families, online. We play roles to be seen as serious, kind, competent, inspiring. We become “the one who reassures”, “the one who makes people laugh”, “the one who takes care of everything”, “the one who never breaks”. After years of pleasing, we may reach a point where we no longer know who we are when we stop performing.</p>
<p class="my-2 &#091;&amp;+p&#093;:mt-4 &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:inline-block &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:align-top">All along, the word <strong>fidelity</strong> remains oriented outward: not cheating, not leaving, keeping our promises. <strong><span style="color: #678936;">But while we stay faithful to the image the world expects, how many times do we betray ourselves inside? How many times do we say “yes” while everything in us says “no”? How many times do we stay silent when something in us is burning to speak?</span></strong></p>
<p class="my-2 &#091;&amp;+p&#093;:mt-4 &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:inline-block &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:align-top"><strong><span style="color: #800080;">You can be exemplary in the eyes of others,</span></strong><br />

But there is another form of betrayal, quieter and more daily: ignoring yourself. Not taking what you truly feel into account. Pushing your truth aside just to keep fitting expectations.</p>
<p class="my-2 &#091;&amp;+p&#093;:mt-4 &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:inline-block &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:align-top">Not abandoning yourself is a form of inner presence. <strong>It means staying connected to what is true for you, even when the world invites you to move away from yourself. <p class="my-2 &#091;&amp;+p&#093;:mt-4 &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:inline-block &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:align-top"><strong><span style="color: #800080;">To be loved, accepted, recognized, we learn to play roles.</span></strong></p>
<p class="my-2 &#091;&amp;+p&#093;:mt-4 &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:inline-block &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:align-top">We become “the strong one”, “the reliable one”, “the one who always listens”, “the one who never says no”, “the one who never disturbs”, “the one who succeeds at everything”. These roles can, at first, be protections, ways to move through the world. They can even reflect real gifts : yes, some people truly have a great capacity to support, listen, inspire.</p>
<p class="my-2 &#091;&amp;+p&#093;:mt-4 &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:inline-block &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:align-top">The danger appears when the role starts taking all the space and the person behind it begins to fade. By constantly answering expectations, we stop asking ourselves:<br />
<strong><span style="color: #678936;">“Does this still feel like me?</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #678936;">Does this way of functioning honour my inner fidelity,</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #678936;">or am I slowly disappearing?”</span></strong></p>
<p class="my-2 &#091;&amp;+p&#093;:mt-4 &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:inline-block &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:align-top"><strong><span style="color: #800080;">You can be faithful to an image</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #800080;">and unfaithful to yourself.</span></strong></p>
<p class="my-2 &#091;&amp;+p&#093;:mt-4 &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:inline-block &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:align-top">You can hold your role perfectly for others while feeling increasingly empty, tired, absent to yourself. That’s when something inside begins to show signs: weariness, irritability, a desire to disappear, a sense of not recognizing yourself anymore.</p>
<p class="my-2 &#091;&amp;+p&#093;:mt-4 &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:inline-block &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:align-top">Being touched by other worlds, other ways of living, other perspectives is human and alive. It is precious: it opens us, enriches us, helps us grow. But blending in to the point where you no longer feel who you are, no longer think for yourself, no longer know what you truly love when nobody is watching… that is where <strong>fidelity</strong> gets lost along the way.</p>
<p class="my-2 &#091;&amp;+p&#093;:mt-4 &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:inline-block &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:align-top">At that moment, one quiet question can become a turning point:</p>
<p class="my-2 &#091;&amp;+p&#093;:mt-4 &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:inline-block &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:align-top"><strong><span style="color: #678936;">Today, in which role do you feel you drift the furthest away from yourself?</span></strong></p>
<p class="my-2 &#091;&amp;+p&#093;:mt-4 &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:inline-block &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:align-top">It is not a question for self‑judgment.<br />
It is a question to start seeing where you abandon yourself.<br />
Where you respond to an expectation instead of to your own movement.<br />
Where you “please”, but no longer truly respect yourself.</p>
<h2 id="coming-back-gently-to-yourself" class="font-semibold leading-tight text-pretty mb-2 mt-4 &#091;.has-inline-images_&amp;&#093;:clear-end text-lg first:mt-0 md:text-lg &#091;hr+&amp;&#093;:mt-4">Coming back gently to yourself</h2>
<p class="my-2 &#091;&amp;+p&#093;:mt-4 &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:inline-block &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:align-top">Coming back to <strong>fidelity to yourself</strong> is not a fight against the world, nor a brutal break with everything around you. It is a more honest way of walking through life: with the world, yes, but also with yourself. It is deciding that your presence to yourself matters as much as your presence to others.</p>
<p class="my-2 &#091;&amp;+p&#093;:mt-4 &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:inline-block &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:align-top"><strong><span style="color: #678936;">Sometimes, it begins with something very simple: noticing the moment when you say “yes” while everything in you says “no”. Not punishing yourself for it, but honestly acknowledging that, right there, you just left yourself a little. Then, next time, trying a slightly different response: “I need to think about it”, “I’m not sure”, “I can’t this time”.</span></strong></p>
<p class="my-2 &#091;&amp;+p&#093;:mt-4 &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:inline-block &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:align-top">Little by little, <strong>fidelity</strong> turns less into an abstract concept and more into a felt reality: the sense of not leaving yourself behind anymore. The sense of feeling that you are still there with you, even when you move through spaces where you’re asked to be someone else.</p>
<p class="my-2 &#091;&amp;+p&#093;:mt-4 &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:inline-block &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:align-top">And maybe, from today on, you can turn this inner commitment into a living experiment:</p>
<p class="my-2 &#091;&amp;+p&#093;:mt-4 &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:inline-block &#091;&amp;_strong:has(+br)&#093;:align-top"><strong><span style="color: #800080;">“I don’t promise myself to never fail.</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #800080;">I simply promise to notice when I walk away from myself…</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #800080;">and to learn, step by step, to stay a little more by my own side.”</span></strong></p>
